Brooke hails from Fremont, CA, roundabouts near the north end of the Silicon Valley. No siblings, but lots of close family members, as well as dogs and cats. Brooke grew up in the town of Newark, CA, where her grandfather was mayor in the 60's. Brooke graduated from the University of California at Irvine in 1995 with a degree in biological sciences. She recently earned an MS in pharmaceutical chemistry from UC San Francisco. Yes, the degree was earned recently, after a few years of startup-hopping after grad school. Long story. Brooke has run three marathons and loves running on the trails of the Bay Area. She also enjoys singing with her a cappella sextet Smorgaschord, playing piano and saxophone, cooking ethnic foods, and writing her first novel (200 pages down!). Brooke is currently working as a chemistry and biotechnology instructor at Ohlone College. Perhaps she will synthesize the true Love Potion Number 9...
